Fred married, but his wife's details are unknown.

Fred's mother, Florence, (who died at age 108) owned a huge farm at Broadheath, Worcestershire.

She had a pet pig who used to fetch "Tiny", a helper on the farm.

Fred had two brothers. Each brother was given a third share of Florence's farm (she, keeping one third for herself). Fred must have missed out. However, he had a hotel in Tipton.

It is believed that after his first wife died, he went to Canada, leaving his daughters a business to run.

(Among the papers left by William James Davies in 1998 was an address of a Fred Townsend, at 27 Liushane Lock, Montreal, Canada.
