Misc. Notes
By David Lauder
Horace Henry Laudehr was a civil engineer. He married
Annie May Purcell in 1916.
[31] Annie was apparently a Fitzroy prostitute.
[32] No children resulted from this marriage.
Note that Horace was married as a
Lauder (not
Laudehr) in 1916, whereas
George William was married as a
Laudehr in 1908 and Harold was married as a
Laudehr in 1915. The year of the name change was actually 1917, so the family had started to use the anglicised name before it was official.
As a civil engineer and surveyor, Horace worked initially in the
Federated Malay States for 2 1⁄2 years in railway construction, before being associated with Shire Works in
Tallangatta, Rosedale and
Foster.
Around 1927, he accepted the position of Shire Engineer in
Urana (Riverina, NSW), a position he held until his death on the 10th December 1949.
[33] He was 58 years of age.
His wife survived him.
